Instructions The Pharmasan Labs NeuroAdrenal Profile involves collection of an overnight urine and saliva sample. It is recommended to collect urine and saliva specimens the same day. Collecting saliva specimen: - Collect your first specimen one hour after getting out of bed for the day. For most people, this is close to 7:00am with the remaining specimens collected at 11:00am, 5 pm,and 10pm. Your times should be adjusted to fit your schedule.
- Briefly rinse mouth with cold water 5 minutes prior to collection
- Slowly chew the clear waxy portion of the parafilm.
- Collect saliva until a tube is 3/4 full of liquid, not foam. Tap tube to reduce foam.
- Cap tightly.
- Specimen must be stored overnight. FREEZE until shipment.
Do not: - Avoid brushing teeth, chewing gum, and consuming foods or liquids (except water) for 60 minutes prior to saliva collection.
- Do not take any supplements or medications (unless required by your health care professional) until after the specimen collection. Resume normal routine after specimen collection.
Collecting urine specimen: - Collect urine two to three hours after getting out of bed for the day.
- Collect midstream specimen of urine in the collection cup.
- Use the pipette to transfer the urine from the collection cup to the transport tube.
- Fill the tube 3/4 full.
- Specimen must be stored overnight. Refrigerate until shipment.
Do not: - Do not collect the first urine of the day. Any nighttime urine should not be considered the first urine of the day.
- Do not remove the white disc from the transport tube.
- Do not eat or drink (except water) 12 hours prior to collection. You may take supplements and medications normally before bedtime.
- The morning of the urine specimen, do not eat or drink any liquids, avoid tobacco, and exercise. Do not take supplements and medications (unless required by your healthcare professional) until after the specimen is collected.
- Do not take during menstruation.
